Paulinus Baptiste "Archie" Gentius

Paulinus B. Gentius, affectionately known as “ Archie,” passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born in Vieux Fort St. Lucia on June 21, 1932, to Lorrietta Christopher and Luis Archibald. He met his wife, Eileen, 56 years ago on St. Croix where they raised their family with love, purpose and joy. Archie embodied the essence of power and strength, and fearlessness that commanded respect and admiration. He lived a life of adventure, had an intense love for learning and dedication to excellence in everything he pursued. He will forever be remembered for his deep love for family and friends.

He established a successful construction company on St. Croix, building numerous homes and his church. Known for his ingenuity, love of reading and writing, fine penmanship, and generous spirit, Archie was also celebrated for preparing traditional island dishes for family and friends.

He will forever be remembered for his love of family, his magnetic smile and laughter. Paulinus B. Gentius is survived by his wife of 56 years (Agatha Eileen Gentius), his children (Michael (Ricky) Maureen, Martha (Marian), Pauline, Paula, Wincess, Wayne and Dalia); his sisters (Theodocia and Veronica), niece (Angela Newton), his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the Christopher family of St. Lucia and Barbados. Many thanks to his caregivers over the past 2 years.

A viewing will be held at Island Baptist Church, 105 CA Estate Whim, Rte 701, Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM.

The interment will follow to Kingshill Cemetery.
