Orily Patricia Matthews

With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Orily Patricia Matthews announces her passing on December 30, 2025. Orily was born on February 12, 1959, and throughout her life she was known for her strength, dedication, and unwavering love for her family. She proudly served with the Virgin Islands Police Department, where she demonstrated commitment, discipline, and a deep sense of duty to her community. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: daughters Rina Greenidge, Rashera Charles, Ronifer Charles, and Rashimma Skerrit; and sons Rodney Greenidge and Russel Matthews. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Rasheema Greenidge, Precious Charles, Lequon Greenidge, Nyisha Matthews, Jahrany Edgar, Jay Edgar, Shaniya Broussard, Sha’Koi Robinson, Sequoia Robinson, Sequon Robinson, and A’Nylah Matthews. Orily leaves behind her brothers Richard Matthews, Vernon Matthews, Jerome Matthews, and Steven Sackey; her sisters Mary Garlinton, Violet Matthews-Chapman, Nadine Barnes, Jozette Matthews, and Denise Frederick; and her godbrother Marcus Milligan. She is also survived by her uncle Ernest Bess. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces Lavida Chapman and Melissa Greenidge, and her nephews Jeremy Williams, Jermaine Williams, Max Wilson, Stan Wilson, Dwayne Greenidge, Wendell Greenidge, Aseim Matthews, and Jacoby Matthews.

Orily also leaves to mourn her passing her special friend Lisa Walters, along with cherished family friends: the Charles Family, Samuel Family, McIntosh Family, Joseph Family, and Griles Family.

A church service celebrating the life of Orily Patricia Matthews will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at St. Patrick Church, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands 00840. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m.
