With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Louis Austin Jackson announces his peaceful passing on June 12, 2026, at the age of 75. Louis will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to martial arts, his wisdom, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, mentorship, and friendship.
Louis was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ann Marie Stewart Jackson and Austin Louis Jackson; his daughter, Natasha M. Jackson; his sister, Greta Stewart-Callwood; and his aunt, Eulalie Pedersen.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Glenn S. Jackson; his children, Eboné M. Smith, Shawqi Jackson, and Austin Jackson; and his stepsons, Joey Schoonmaker, Jay Blair, and Jermain Blair.
He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Doreen J. Riviere; his grandchildren, Yatikwah Jackson, Yashayrah Jackson, Malik Rodriguez, Jaleek Rodriguez, Jashawn Rodriguez, Nadera Miller, Ayden Jackson, Harold Smith III, Harmoné Smith, and Haléa Smith; his step-grandchildren, Myeisha, Kadysha, Amaya, and Kai Schoonmaker; Zhané, Zhenya, Jayda, Jonathan, and Kamari Blair; and Kalel Marler; and his great-grandchild, Yaéceon Quick.
Louis also leaves behind his nieces, Denise Coumarbatch, Daphne Thomas, and Ann Marie Charles; his nephews, Ralph Thomas Jr. and Troy Edney Sr.; his great-nephews, Ah'Mari Mahoney, Troy Edney Jr., and Traylon Edney; his great-nieces, Ah'mira Hector and Jannae Edney; his cousins, Dr. Walter J. M. Pedersen Jr. and family and Linda Pedersen-Bough; his brother-in-law, Rudolph Riviere; his son-in-law, Harold Smith Jr.; his godbrothers, Vaughn Hendricks, Dr. Olaf Hendricks, Kurt Vialet, and Roy Vialet; and his godsister, Annette Hendricks-O'Neal.
Louis shared a special bond with his extended martial arts family and many lifelong friends, including the Ja Goju Jitsu Ryu Martial Arts Family, Nisei Goju Ryu Family, Jennifer McIntosh, Dr. Joanne Patterson, Susanna Callwood-Smith, Donna Blair, Yvette Riviere, Cleone Llanos, Julie Thomas, Isaac Torres, Roy D. Jackson, Julian Jackson, Sensei Steve Wilson, Sensei Elvis Pedro, Sensei Donald Pickard, Sensei Allen Haynes Sr., Sensei Sherwon G. William, Master Evworth Charles, Master Eugene Phipps, Professor Raymond A. Fitzpatrick, Grandmaster Arthur Dennery, Grandmaster Chaka Zulu, Grandmaster Ruby Camacho, all Senior Black Belts of the Bushido, and many other cherished relatives and friends whose love and support meant so much throughout his life.

A Funeral Service celebrating Louis' life will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church, 45 King Street, Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands 00820. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at the Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Though Louis has departed from this earthly life, his legacy of love, strength, discipline, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
