Jesus Reyes-Melendez

Jesus Reyes Melendez was born on December 25, 1928, and gained his angel wings on September 8, 2026. He will be deeply missed by his beloved family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Melendez and Juan Reyes; his sisters, Eugenia Ortega and Carmen Navarro; his brothers, Juan Reyes, Pedro Reyes, Diego Reyes, and Jose Reyes; and his in-laws, Luz M. Reyes, Angel Ortega, and Gaspar Navarro.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Otilia Cruz Reyes; his daughters, Maria Cecilia Reyes-Rivera, Isabel Cristina Rivera Reyes, and Carmen Margarita Reyes; and his son, Manuel Alfonso Reyes. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Betsymarie Rivera, Josue Rivera, Samuel Rivera, Abner Rivera, Isabel Kristin Rivera, Phillip Tu, and Raul Torres Jr. (Raulito); and his great-grandchildren, Noah Samuel Muniz Rivera, Madison Elyce Muniz Rivera, and Sophie Anne Rivera. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Antonia Ortiz and Gloria Serano; his son-in laws, Jose Rivera, Jesus Rivera; and his in-laws, Mercedes Navarro, Nilda Masony, Sarah Williams, Francisca Reyes, Jannette Cowart, Annette Clark, Manuela Cruz, Roberto Ortiz, Francisco Cruz, Manuel Cruz Gavino Jr., and Juan Cruz.

Jesus was blessed with many special family and friends. Those who will cherish his memory include Mercedes Navarro and Jennifer Avila, Daniel and Lucy Reyes, Vilma Reyes, Juan Carlos Santa Cruz Ventura (Carl), Angel Luis and Migdalia Suliverez, Genaro and Evelina Torres and family, Carlos and Candida Ramos, Olga Guadalupe, Maria Guadalupe-Thomas and Victor Guadalupe, Maria I. Lopez (Chabela), Julio Montes, Juanita Ramos, Hector Rivera and family, Annie Tirado, Angel Tirado and family, Carmen Santiago and Rafael Colon, Michelle Martinez and Hector Bermudez, John Metelus and family, Denis Nash and family, Iglesia Movimiento Pentecostal - Diamond Ruby, Alfonso Hadaway and Cheryl Richardson. Many other cousins, nieces, and nephews who touched Jesus’ life are too numerous to mention, but their love, kindness, and friendship will always be remembered and appreciated.

Jesus family would also like to give a special thanks to Kenisha Hendrickson, Continuum Care, Nurse Lisa Lopez, Nurse Niquani Kelly, and Shawna Mitchele.

Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Divine Chapel, 129 Peter’s Rest, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Divine Chapel, with viewing beginning at 9:00 AM and the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the funeral service at the New Veteran Section of Kingshill Cemetery.

May Jesus Reyes Melendez rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord and may his memory forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
