It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh Joseph, who departed this life on June 22, 2026. Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in the countless laughs, cherished memories, unwavering loyalty, and enduring legacy he leaves behind. Hugh will forever be remembered as a man whose warm presence, generous spirit, and charismatic personality brought comfort, joy, and strength to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Hugh was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Emmanuel Joseph, Lily Joseph, Saturnin Matthew Alphonse, and Jane Charles Alphonse, whom he loved deeply and held in the highest respect and admiration; his father-in-law, David "TK" Lane; his stillborn brother, Sylvester Joseph; and his uncles, Selwyn Joseph, Oswald Charles, Dr. Augustin Charles, and Joseph Charles.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Thericka Lane Joseph; his beloved children, L'Chante Woodley, Sunna Arianna Joseph, and Sasche Jabez Joseph; and his cherished stepson, Kasan Lane.
Hugh was the proud grandfather of Royal Prentice, Jahmall Augustine, and Miracle Martin, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He is lovingly survived by his parents, Hilary Joseph and Alicia Joseph; his mother-in-law, Edith Lane; and his beloved siblings, Dr. Sophia Joseph Parrilla, Shawna Pryce, Cheryl Joseph-Donegan, David Joseph, Stephen Joseph, and Jonathan Joseph.
Also mourning his loss are his brothers-in-law, Eddie Parrilla, Philbert Pryce, Derrick Donegan, and David Lane; his sister-in-law, DaVetta Lane Thurman; his cherished nephews, Dr. Peter John-Baptiste Jr., Elijah Jeune, Shawn Pryce, and Damien Williams; his beloved nieces, Shidoya Jane Parrilla, Shideya Antonia Parrilla, JD, Esquire, Nancy Parrilla, Alicia Farquharson, Aminah Farquharson, Aiyana Farquharson, and Darlene Morgan; and his niece-in-law, Alexa John-Baptiste.
He is also lovingly remembered by his aunts, Sonia Thornille, Theresa Joseph, Rose Marie Charles, and Alexandra Charles; his uncles, John Joseph, Ryan Joseph, and Gregory Charles; along with a host of beloved cousins, godsiblings, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by his love, friendship, and generosity. They will continue to honor and cherish his memory for years to come.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to Father Andrea Filippucci, St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its parish community, the Family of Faith Prayer Group of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the St. Croix Central High School Class of 1996, Jarsley Edwin, Peter John Baptiste Sr., and Monsignor Michael Kosak for their prayers, unwavering support, kindness, and compassion during this difficult time.
The family also wishes to express its sincere appreciation to everyone who called, sent messages, offered words of comfort, sent cards, prepared meals, visited, or extended a helping hand in any way. Your love, prayers, and acts of kindness have been a tremendous source of strength and comfort throughout this difficult journey. Though his voice is now silent, his laughter will forever echo in our hearts. Though he has departed from our sight, his love, spirit, and the countless lives he touched will never be forgotten. His legacy will live on through his family, his friends, and all who were blessed to know and love him.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to celebrate the life of Hugh Joseph on Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, #1 Mount Pleasant, Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands 00840. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. The Family Request all attendees to wear shades of blue.
