Angelita "Angie" Collins Petrus

Angelita Collins Petrus, affectionately known as “Angie,” was born on June 15, 1932, and passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her husband the late James “Z. Sonny” Petrus; her parents, Amelia Landon and the late David Collins; her grand-daughter Renesia Petrus; and her stepson, Gustave Simmonds.

Angelita leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Louise Petrus, Sarah Petrus Ross, Brenda Petrus Bastian (stepdaughter), and Jamela “Keda” Petrus (stepdaughter); her sons, Warren “Mabuto” Petrus, Wayne Petrus, James “Brother Pap” Petrus, Dale “Daza” Petrus, and Vincent “Putchie Yum” Petrus; and her sister, Theresa Thomas. She is also survived by her brother, James Collins.

She leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory. Her grandchildren include Warren Petrus Jr., Kai Yarwood, Kia Williams, Kila Ross, Osie Petrus, K’Tonya Petrus, Diane Petrus, Dana Petrus, Angelo Petrus, Sleepy Petrus, Dale Petrus, Alex Petrus, Keba-Eyan Collins Petrus, Abednego Collins Petrus, Patricia Petrus, and Louise Petrus-Lang, Aaron Petrus, Karen Petrus, Jimmy Petrus, Nia Petrus, Mitchelle Ventura, Xiomara Ventura, Karla Ventura, Tyrone Petrus, Mary Petrus, Kinita Petrus, Richard Petrus, Joseph Petrus, and Sharon Petrus. Her great-grandchildren include, Telisha Springer, Anayah Petrus, Viacine Petrus, Jah’Zara Boulonge, Jdh’Zyan Bouloge, Jah’Zair Hazlewood, Diane Denis, Patricia Denis, Xavier Denis, Lymaris Denis, Isiah Denis, Luis Diaz, Abdiel Diaz, Elijah Diaz, Joshara Williams, Emani Petrus, Elijah Petrus, Warren Petrus “Lil Chang” III, Eric Ross, Kai-El Bishop, Clarence “CJ” Bishop, Furman Thomas III, Ky’Danya Greenaway, Nyeama Marie Greenaway, De’Vaughn Greenaway, Deanjoue Greenaway, Kyle Bruce, Kaya Yarwood, Aleyna Yarwood, Bennett Yarwood, and Maximo Yarwood. Her great great-grandchildren include Shamay “cookie” Springer Bruntsarff, Kenesia Goodwin, Jahmal Henry, and Jamaur Henry.

Angelita will also be lovingly remembered by her in-laws, Merissa, Timicia George Petrus, Curtis Long, Mariah Petrus, Jackie Ross, and Rhonda Petrus, along with other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

She also leaves behind Pall Bearers Warren Petrus, Daza Petrus, Vincent Petrus, Keba Petrus, and Derrick Ballantine Sr.

Family and friends may gather for viewing on September 9, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Divine Funeral Services. The church service will be held at Friedensberg Moravian Church in Frederiksted, with viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.

Angelita Collins Petrus will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
